Catalyst GroupA Social Action Group When you hear about the extent of poverty in developing nations, the problem can seem too overwhelming to do anything about.
Our Catalyst program is an advocacy group facilitated by Baptist World Aid Australia. We are part of a network of groups across Australia campaigning on the same issues. We are people with a burden for justice who meet together to learn to act locally on global justice issues. Catalyst provides excellent education, resources and support. This has been one person's experience through her invovlement with the Catalyst Group at Belair.
I have gone from knowing very little about these issues, to reading books, researching websites, doing Bible Studies, organising petitions and visiting politicians - from our local member to the foreign minister (something I would have never considered doing before joining Catalyst). It has been a real learning experience for me, and a positive way of addressing an issue I found overwhelming - an experience I would highly recommend! |
